CR Partners Named Mississippi Top 50

Captiol Resources is pleased to announce its partners were each named to the Mississippi Top 50 most influential leaders in the state.

Henry Barbour, Managing Partner

When you hear “Barbour” in Mississippi politics, Henry Barbour may not be the first Barbour you think of.  However, nationally, more and more he’s thought of before his famous uncle Haley.  His political style is light years different.  While that may be somewhat a function of their age difference, Henry is much more of a behind the scenes player.  But when it comes to moving the needle in issues affecting the National GOP, few people are more influential right now than Henry.

As one of three partners of the multi-state lobbying firm Capitol Resources, he has been a largely behind-the-scenes force on the national Republican scene as a Committeeman, fundraiser and policy advisor.  He’s worked on congressional campaigns, gubernatorial campaigns, done a stint in the Bush 41 Administration, run SuperPACs, and worked for Presidential candidates like Rick Perry.

His influence in Mississippi is concurrently powerful yet understated.  He’s a prodigious fundraiser for both political candidates and charitable causes; he is highly involved with causes like the Mississippi Book Festival and Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital at UMC.

Clare Hester, Founding Partner

Clare Hester is one of Mississippi’s top lobbyists and founding partner of Capitol Resources, LLC, the South’s leading government relations firm with offices in Capitols from Austin, TX to Columbia, SC. She is one of the strongest forces at the Mississippi Capitol, successfully waging and winning multiple legislative campaigns each year on behalf of a blue-chip list of businesses clients and trade associations. Her early days as a lobbyist for Mississippi State Medical Association, her experience managing multi-state government relations for a leading national pharmaceutical company, combined with her endless drive to launch and build her own firm have landed her at the forefront of nearly every major legislative initiative of the last two decades. Most notably, she was part of a core group that was at the tip of the spear in the tort reform battles.

Clare is also a passionate advocate for programs that make meaningful change in vulnerable, at-risk children’s lives, including: The Alliance of Mississippi Boys and Girls Clubs which steers at-risk children into success as adults through its after-school and summer programs; Youth Villages that provides intensive home-based alternatives and treatments for children placed into Foster Care and institutions; and Comcast’s Internet Essentials program that provides below-cost computers and internet access to families with children who qualify for free or reduced or lunch programs, and families living in low income housing.

 John Lundy, Partner

John has been a partner at Capitol Resources, LLC for the past sixteen years where he has been involved in public policy and politics at the federal and state level.

With over thirty years of government affairs experience, John has managed a wide range of clients including corporations, privately held companies as well as non-profit organizations.  John concentrates his efforts in areas ranging from agriculture, banking, defense, energy, telecom and transportation.  John began his career on Capitol Hill working as a legislative assistant for former Congressman Mike Espy.  He also worked for former Congressman Larry Combest of Texas before serving as Chief of Staff to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott.  John’s Capitol Hill experience further presents him with an extensive network to lobby both the Legislative and Administrative Branches.  His experience provides the foundation for lasting relationships with key leaders throughout Mississippi, the Gulf South and the entire country.
